Five non-comedogenic oils for acne prone skin

One thing about being an acne-prone girlie or boy is that we fear putting any form of oil on our face but also want that element of glow. Today, we’re getting into a topic that feels close to home for many of us – finding those face oils that don’t make us worry about breakouts but instead nurture our skin. We found the key to glowing without clogging our pores and dealing with acne for the next couple of days or weeks– non-comedogenic oils.

We understand the struggle, truly. The search for that perfect product that says, Hey, I’ve got you, and together, we’re going to make your skin feel loved and cared for. It’s almost like looking for a rare gem. Well, we’ve been on that journey too, and we’ve found some non-comedogenic oils along the way. Here’s the tea:

Our first oil of choice is Jojoba oil. We think jojoba oil is like a softener for our skin. And that’s because it is so much like the natural sebum our skin produces. That means it can help balance oil production, which is great if you’re worried about acne.

Next on our list is argan oil, sometimes called ‘liquid gold,’ and trust us, it lives up to the name. It’s rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, it helps with nourishment without being heavy. We love how it makes our skin feel hydrated and soft. For those of us with acne-prone skin, argan oil is extremely gentle, encouraging our skin to glow without causing breakouts.

We like to tread lightly with tea tree oil but it’s one of our favorites. We know this one might sound a bit surprising because it’s essential oil. But hear us out. Tea tree oil, when diluted (remember, this is important!), can be a real game-changer. We know it for its ability to fight bacteria and reduce inflammation, which is exactly what we want when we’re dealing with acne.

Rosehip oil doesn’t get as much PR as the others but it deserves its flowers too. We can’t get enough of rosehip oil. It’s like a nurturing hug for our skin, packed with vitamins and antioxidants. It’s also amazing for helping with acne scars, making it a win-win for us.

Last, but definitely not least, we’re big fans of hemp seed oil. Just like rosehip oil, it’s usually below the radar, if you ask us. This oil is amazing at moisturizing our skin without clogging pores which is music to our ears.

Every one of these oils are from natural sources which is great but also means that we could be allergic to some of them. It’s still very essential that we do a patch test before we go on and put them on our faces. If you do have an allergic reaction, you’d have to have another source of glow. There are several non- comedogenic oils out there so make sure to do some research alongside your dermatologist and find out what works the best for your beautiful skin.

We believe that skincare is a personal journey, and we’re all about taking care of our skin in the kindest way possible.
