Our Favorite Night Cream for Oily Skin Has These Ingredients

Have you ever noticed how you wake up looking more refreshed, revitalized, and even a bit radiant on those mornings following a good nighttime skincare routine? We know you’re just pretty like that and you always wake up glowing but we also know that’s it’s a reminder that we should never neglect our nighttime skincare routine. And we think an essential part of that routine is the night cream. Yes, we’ve all heard of them, and we’ve probably brushed them off at times, thinking we don’t need another cream, especially if we already have oily skin. But trust us when we say, the night cream is one beauty secret we cannot afford to miss.

You can imagine my shock as a child always wondering why my mum had a day and a night cream. Well, now I know.

Here’s why: at night, while we’re asleep, our skin cells are up and working, repairing, regenerating and even renewing themselves. It’s quite fascinating if you think about it. But we also need to do our part in helping with the process. That’s where a well-formulated night cream comes in.

Now, when we say well-formulated, we’re talking about some ingredients we recommend you can look out for when picking out the perfect night cream. These ingredients are good for everyone but we want to focus on those of us with oily skin. We think because our skin is oily, we have no need for a moisturizer, especially at night.

First off, water-based products should be our go-to. These products are lighter, non-greasy, and provide the right amount of hydration without clogging pores.

Retinol is another ingredient we look out for. Not only does it encourage skin renewal, but it also aids in unclogging pores and smoothing fine lines. Although please keep in mind to start small when it comes to retinol, especially for black people. We can incorporate it into our routine in small amounts. And if breakouts are your concern,  we know that Salicylic acid aka Beta-Hydroxy Acid is a good remedy for that. It digs deep into our skin to remove dirt and impurities, preventing acne.

Another ingredient we love is Hyaluronic Acid. It is an ingredient that we know for its hydrating nature. It’s the water that will quench your skin’s thirst.

Lastly, Glycolic Acid – an alpha-hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin, removes dead skin cells and aids better penetration of the other active ingredients. We can say that it paves the way for other ingredients. Literally.

Remember, while it might feel good to crash into bed after a long day, let’s do ourselves a favor and give our skin a little night-time love. The glow you wake up with in the morning will be all the encouragement you need to continue this healthy habit.

And like we always mention, what works for some might not work for others, and that’s perfectly okay. The important thing is that we make time for self-care, keep ourselves educated about what goes onto our skin, and embrace our individuality.

Sleep tight!
