Yes, we need to start weight-training. Here’s why

In recent years, we’ve seen the gym looking a lot more different than before. We’ve noticed that the girlies are no longer stuck to the cardio machines or group fitness classes. While we still love a good run on the treadmill and let’s not forget the Stairmaster, we do love that the girls are taking up space in the weight room—and for good reason. While everyone has different fitness goals, the benefits of incorporating weight training into our fitness routines are too significant to ignore. Let’s explore why weight training is worth the hype. Baby steps, though, of course.

Let’s start with the most obvious benefit: strength. Just from our own experience, we can tell you that lifting weights will actually make you stronger. And this newfound strength helps indulging in our everyday tasks much easier. Whether it’s carrying groceries, lifting ourselves from the couch or our favorite people, or rearranging furniture, you’ll find daily chores becoming less of a strain. Strength training isn’t just about toned muscles; it’s about practical strength that improves your quality of life.

Speaking of toned muscles, let’s talk about it for a moment. Weight training will make you look toner. If looking toned is part of your fitness goals, then lifting weights is definitely one of your golden tickets. It helps build muscle and lose fat and have you looking leaner and more sculpted. And while we’re here, let’s debunk a myth that we’re genuinely tired of hearing: weight training will not make women look bulky. This isn’t an episode of Johnny Bravo. According to our research, achieving a bulky look would require added supplements and a highly specific regimen. The simple act of lifting weights is not going to turn you into a bodybuilder overnight.

Moving on, we’d want to co-sign that fact that lifting weights is a very effective way to lose weight. This is when we pair it with good nutrition and a calorie deficit. Also, weight-training has the ability to increase our metabolism. After a session, your body actually continues to burn calories for hours, sometimes even days. That sounds a bit like magic, but science backs us up. When you lift weights, you’re turning your body into a more efficient calorie-burning machine, even when you’re not actively working out. We simply love it.

In the world of fitness and its many activities, we think weight training is one that should be on your radar.  To add, incorporate weight training into your routine, and feel free to mix it around with other fitness activities you enjoy. That’s how we do it. Let us know how it goes!

We’re all in this together, learning and growing as we go. So grab those weights and take that first baby step. The benefits of strength training are well worth it.
