The skin is the largest organ of our body, and we believe it deserves tender love and care. We focus a lot on our internal organs, which is great, but we should also pay that much attention to our skin. Both boys and girls are getting more into skincare, which means that we need accurate information out in the world. How would it make us—your friend—look if we didn’t give a helping hand? Now, we believe in taking simple steps for starters. Don’t get freaked out by the big words and complex ingredients on the product bottles. We’ve got you covered with this basic routine to help you start your skincare journey.
- Know your skin type: The first thing you need to know is your skin type. It could be any of the four—normal, dry, oily, combination—it’s quite self-explanatory. Although keep in mind that your skin could also be sensitive. This will guide the products to use on your skin.
- Wash your face at least twice a day: Just like you’d prepare a blank canvas to start a paint job, the same way we want to start with a clean face, washed with a face wash.
- Cleanse: We all need a face cleanser to take off any extra dirt that might have been left behind on our skin.
- Moisturize: We don’t advise you to skip any steps because everyone is just as important. But if you ever have to, moisturizing is not the one. The perfect moisturizer keeps your skin hydrated and moist, no pun intended.
- Sunscreen: The ladies won’t stop talking about SPF. From us to you, it is worth the hype. Sunscreen protects our skin against ultraviolet rays—sunlight and certain lamps. Spending time under LED lights can negatively affect the skin and cause health risks like cancer and worse, hyperpigmentation!
- Change your pillowcase regularly: Hygiene plays a huge part in us having soft, clear skin. Your days of using your bedsheets for over a week are over. We’ll start easy on you and suggest changing your sheets every two weeks for starters.
- Drink water: The internet gods once said, “Drink water and mind your business,” and we couldn’t agree more. Increasing your water intake reduces the toxins in your body and maintains your skin’s elasticity. Staying healthy on the inside always translates on the outside.
There are many ways to get the clear skin we desire. However, these are the basic steps to consider when starting out on your skincare journey. And don’t forget to take your beauty sleep.
