Five rumoured safest countries in the world in 2024

Finding safe travel destinations can feel like a challenge these days. Places we once considered ideal and dreamed of visiting have become less appealing due to safety concerns. We all want to have the time of our lives while feeling welcomed and, most importantly, safe. So, here are some countries that have been rumoured as the safest in the world, as of 2024.

When we talk about safety, we mean countries that are friendly to foreigners and have a low crime rate. However, our disclaimer is that while these countries generally have positive reputations for safety and inclusivity, individual experiences can be different. One thing we keep in mind is how important it is to do your proper in-depth research about anywhere you want to visit. And, please consider personal safety measures when travelling. We think it’s great that tons of people take trips and document them, telling people about their experiences firsthand. That’s the real tea we should look into before taking any trip. They’re on various social media apps and travel blogs. Our personal favourite is TikTok. We definitely recommend that when you’re doing your research.

First on the list is Japan. This country has been on our watchlist for a while now, and it seems to be the case for many others as well. So far, the reviews have been pretty positive. Asides the low crime rate, Japan is packed with culture, and the locals take pride in sharing it with foreigners. It sounds great to us!

Second is Rwanda. If you ever imagine what it would be like to be one with nature and community in Africa, Rwanda is definitely the place for you. From its green landscapes to its welcoming people, Rwanda offers a unique travel experience that feels both safe and enriching to the soul.

Next, is Portugal. Apart from its security, it’s been said to have a relaxed atmosphere, beautiful beaches, and a relatively low cost of living. While we haven’t visited yet, the talk around Portugal’s safety and quality of life is hard to ignore. It seems like a destination where you can unwind and enjoy life at a slower pace. Plus, it might not make your pocket hurt as much.

For our second African country, we have Botswana.  We’ve seen solo travellers and YouTubers like Tayo Aina sing Botswana’s praises, and for good reason. They know the country for its ‘friendly to foreigners’ vibe and inclusive community. One girl on TikTok even said they treated her like a queen and we all love a royal treatment. It’s a different, yet equally safe and exciting, African experience.

Last but not least is Singapore. Asia has always been a hotspot for desired travel destinations, and the spotlight is specifically on Singapore. We love how the government is widely focused on law and order. The low crime rate and high level of organisation make it a must-visit for those of us looking for a safe and vibrant city experience.

But like we said, you should always do as much research on specific cities and areas you plan to travel to, even within the safest countries in the world in 2024. Let us know how it goes if you ever visit any of these destinations.

Safety is a top priority when it comes to travel. Please remember, always do thorough research, check out reviews and personal accounts, and consider personal safety measures. We can’t wait to hear about your experiences!
