Our favourite breakfast spots in Lagos

One thing we absolutely love about Lagos is its diversity. Lagos is constantly buzzing with a vibrant variety of routines. From the streets filled with people catching the first bus of the day, to parents dropping off their kids. Not to forget the nightcrawlers just getting home, and the early risers driving from the gym to their favourite breakfast spots. Among these diverse rhythms, you’ll often find us settling into a cosy seat of a breakfast spot after finishing a fitness activity, ready to savour the morning. If you live in Lagos or plan to visit soon, allow us to share some of our favourite breakfast spots with you.

These breakfast spots have won our hearts for several reasons. For one, the actual breakfast meals they serve are simply delightful. The customer service is impeccable, but it’s mostly the ambience and the smell that keep us coming back. Picture this: the aroma of perfectly cooked breakfast filling the air—what we imagine the home of a perfectly functional family of four smells like in the morning. These spaces have slowly become our safe space. A place to collect our thoughts, enjoy a good meal, and get some work done. This is before diving into the hustle and bustle of Lagos.

First on our list is SLoW, located at Temple Muse in Victoria Island. SLoW isn’t just a spot; it’s an experience. The tranquil green environment, coupled with their breakfast options, makes it a perfect place to start the day. Their customer service is top-notch, and the smell of fresh coffee and warm pastries is simply irresistible.

Next up is XO Bakery. If you’re a fan of baked goods, this place will feel like heaven. The smell of freshly baked bread and pastries greets you as you walk in, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The actual breakfast meals are just as impressive, with a variety of options that cater to different tastes and dietary preferences. Plus, the cosy setting makes it an ideal spot to relax and get some work done.

Another favourite of ours is Grill By Delis Café. It might not be as popular as the other two but we think they’re on their way to becoming a fan favourite. And truthfully, we would love to keep it to ourselves for a bit longer before then. It’s a great place to enjoy a hearty breakfast, catch up on some emails, or simply watch the world go by.

While these three spots hold a special place in our hearts, there are two new places we’ve had our eyes on lately: Dulce Café and Bakery and The Bodega Emporium. Both spaces look incredibly cosy, and their Instagram pages are like a collage of a gourmet breakfast bestseller cookbook. We can’t wait to visit them and add them to our list of favourite breakfast spots. Well, if all goes good, right?

In Lagos, breakfast is more than just a meal. It’s an experience that combines good food, great ambience, and the perfect start to your day. So why not explore these spots and create your own morning ritual? And if your weekdays don’t let you, who says you can’t on the weekends?

We’d love to hear about your experiences and any new spots you discover.
