Making the Most of a Solo Holiday Celebration

Some of us are taking a different route this holiday season – all alone, no one else, solo. But it’s nothing to worry about, quite the opposite actually! We’re about to show you just how amazing and rewarding a solo holiday celebration can be.

Christmas and holidays are usually sold to us as time to cuddle up with our family, exchange presents under a tree and laugh over meals. That’s wonderful and true, but life’s course is such a wild, unpredictable ride and we may not always have that ideal set-up. Maybe work or school has you living miles away, or certain circumstances have created a family rift, or maybe it’s just your choice to spend the holidays on your own. That’s completely fine. But even though we miss our loved ones, a solo holiday doesn’t have to be a sad one!

So, friend, put a smile on your face and let’s show you the bright side of all of this.

Now, have you thought of joining a holiday group vacation? One of those ones where you just pay the travel agency and they put you on a trip with some other people that paid as well (this is after we’ve done our proper research, of course)

Although it’s different, it’s also exciting! Imagine new people, diverse traditions, all sorts of delicacies, maybe some cheerful carolling. You can finally dust off that passport and pack those travel essentials you’ve been procrastinating on using all year.

We also thought about indulging in that long-postponed activity you’ve been wanting to try. Silent clubs, cooking class, candle making, zip lining.

And maybe it’s time to shape our own unique holiday traditions. We’re so used to following our parent’s traditions that we have created ours. This year you could host your very first Christmas dinner with your new friends? This year’s solo Christmas can become the start of many more joyful solo celebrations.

Now let’s talk a bit about the right mindset. One thing that might be keeping us in a down mood is the dreaded FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). When we should be preparing ourself mentally for an exceptional experience. If your family ties is tight-knit, perhaps starting the day with a video call will do the trick. Share your unique holiday plans, maybe they’ll add a couple of their own from their end. A simple conversation can weave you into their celebrations and them into yours.

If family connections are unfortunately not in the best state, let’s address that as well. A call could go a long way, maybe it’s a moment for forgiveness and reconciling. Or perhaps it’s the sign you’ve been waiting for to find your new tribe and start fresh.

In essence, what we’re suggesting is a positive outlook, knowing you’ll have a great time regardless of being by yourself. You might finally binge-watch that show you’ve been planning to watch all year, order some comforting food, and guess what? This can indeed turn out to be the best celebration for you.

Let’s not forget to capture these moments, though. A snap here and there can spark joy when reminiscing in future. Though the memories are solo, they matter a whole lot, as you are important! Just remember, with NayLiving, you’re never really alone.

We are here with you, each step of the way. Merry holidays to us all!
