We all have been told numerous times how breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but have we ever really put deep thought into this fact? Truth is, a well-balanced breakfast gives us the fuel to conquer the day.
I’ve never been a morning person and I don’t think a lot of us are. I get sheer exhaustion from having to hit the snooze button once too many times. But I’ve discovered that a good quick breakfast will lighten the mood. So, here we are today, sharing some really good breakfast solutions for you!
We are going to keep it really simple – good old-fashioned bread, but not just any way. Because we understand – and oh boy, we’ve been there too – morning can be chaotic, confusing and anything but tranquil. However, we’ve got you. These recipes won’t need your constant attention.
First off, Avocado and Poached Egg on Toast. Sounds fancy. But trust us, it’s child’s play to put together. You will need ripe avocados, fresh bread, eggs, some salt and pepper, and a sprinkle of chilli flakes if you’re feeling particularly spicy. First, toast the bread to your preferred crunchiness. Mash up your avocados and layer them on your toast. Next, poach the eggs. Don’t panic at the mention of ‘poaching’, it’s easy. But really, poaching an egg is as simple as gently lowering an egg into simmering water and allowing it to cuddle there for about 4 minutes. Place the egg on top of the avocado paste, sprinkle salt, and pepper. That’s it!
Another great option is a bowl of granola, berries, nuts and yoghurt or milk.
However, we know that that might require some patience from some of you so you’d rather go drinking from a cup, which is fine. If you’re looking for something refreshing yet detoxifying, why not give Lemon Ginger Tea a shot? All it needs is a small chunk of ginger, the juice of half a lemon and a teaspoon of honey mixed in a cup of hot water.
And if you’d prefer a smoothie, blend together a handful of mixed berries, banana, Greek yoghurt, and a little bit of honey. You can do this with your preferred fruits. Top it with a few chia seeds and treat yourself with this fibre, protein, and antioxidant-packed breakfast. Plus, the vibrant colour is cute for an Instagram story.
We’ve got something much more calming and equally, refreshing– a cup of green tea with a bit of lemon and honey. You can go with sugar or a sweetener if you’re not a fan of honey.
My mornings already feel better with these healthy and uncomplicated breakfast choices, we can face each day knowing our bodies are filled with good nutrients and our hearts with the warmth of taking care of ourselves. There’s a brand-new day waiting to be conquered by your amazing selves!
