6 Ways to Romanticize Your Life

We spend a lot of time trying to make the people around us happy. From our family to our friends and our partners. It’s amazing how much you love them and do so much for them but sometimes in the midst of giving out so much of yourself, you forget to romanticize your life too. You deserve love too, from others and mostly yourself.

Have you ever looked at your life and thought it’s missing a certain sparkle, a little sprinkle of romance? We’re not talking about relationships with a partner only; we mean viewing your everyday life like you’re in a 90’s romance movie and you’re the main character. However, the plot twist is that your love interest is YOU. As weird as it sounds, it’s possible and we think we should definitely give it a shot this year. You know, sprinkle sprinkle!

Here are six straightforward ways that we’ve found to add a sprinkle of romance into our everyday lives. Nothing difficult or out of reach, we promise. We’re just embracing simple things that’ll spark our joy and shift our perspective.

The first thing to do is fall in love with yourself. We use mirrors every day, but hardly look ourselves in the eye and express self-love. Why don’t we acknowledge our strength, admire our beauty, and love our own unique quirks? You could even write a love letter to yourself. As we do this more often, we believe that this practice will slowly build a romantic relationship with the self.

Next, we’ve learnt to always practice gratitude. Being grateful is a great way to add romance to our lives. And we’re not talking about massive wins only; the small moments matter as well. We love to celebrate these, write them down in our gratitude journals, and feel them. A great way is also by keeping a gratitude jar. We’ve been seeing a lot about it lately and it wouldn’t hurt to try it out.

Another way we like to romanticize our life is by embracing our own presence. Some of us simply don’t like being by ourselves. We might feel uncomfortable being alone. But we can start to see solitude as an intimate date with ourselves. Try taking walks alone, enjoy a cup of coffee by yourself, or spend an evening just with your thoughts. Maybe even dress up and go out on an activity date by yourself. We suggest candle-making. Trust us, it’s a beautiful experience.

This world is full of incredible beauty, but sometimes, it just needs to be seen. And that is where we step in. Why don’t we start by watching the sun set in the evening, or the shapes of the clouds in the sky, or even the swaying of plants staring at you from outside your window? When we start looking for beauty, we’ll actually find it.

Trying out new experiences is a great way to show yourself the love you deserve. While we love to get ourselves nice things, we should always remember to have nice experiences. Imagine finally doing something that you’ve always wanted to do like going to an amusement park or visiting a bookstore. These experiences speak volumes and could turn to memories that we’d never forget.

Finally, we should start following our passions. This one is very important to us because it could be one of the most fulfilling things we do, ever. We think indulging in our passions, following what makes our heart happy, makes us fall in love with life over and over again. It could be art, music, volunteering, cooking or starting your dream business.

Please remember, there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to romanticizing your life. We believe that the key is to be kind to yourself and do what sparks joy every day. And if that’s not romantic, we don’t know what is.
